Final Post

“Computers have become an inevitable and integral part of modern times. Increasing the efficiency and productivity, they are unquestionably regarded as indispensable for human actions in all fields such as healthcare, banking, administration and education. Similarly, foreign language learning is of significance in today’s world because it opens up a ton of career opportunities, establishes deep connections and cross-cultural friendships, makes more information available, and so forth. In other words, computer usage and language learning are two vital requirements of modern life.”
When I created my blog and wrote this paragraph I thought one thing: If I want to be a good teacher who aims at guiding his students in the best way while they learn their L2, I have to improve myself not only linguistically but also technologically. I also thought that I have to integrate technology into my teaching process meaningfully and purposefully. Students should be benefiting from technological opportunities as much as possible.  In my opinion, technology is an indispensable component of the education system which contributes to 21st century learning skills: critical thinking, collaboration, cooperation, and creativity. My ideas and thoughts have not changed during this process. I can say that I feel the same. It is obvious that during the semester, my thoughts have been reinforced and strengthened by this course and its content. In other words, the course made me more aware of the significance of technology integration into the learning process. It would not be wrong to say that I was not that much aware of the importance of computer use and advantages of technology before taking this course. I even never thought to create a blog. I did not have any idea about many tools I became familiar with thanks to this course. Especially podcast and digital story telling projects were fantastic. However, I did not like one of the last assignments: writing a post about RSS. I am not sure if it was really necessary. I think the number of assignments which would contribute to the learners’ creativity, collaboration, cooperation and critical thinking skills should be increased. At the beginning, I thought it was not a good idea not to provide the students with at least a handout about applications and tools necessary for the assignments. However, at the end, I noticed that this made me more engaged in the process in which I discovered the tools and learnt about them by myself. One good thing about this course is that there is no exam. We had chance to make more and more practice without getting bogged down in theoretical information. I was a very nice experience for me. Thank you very much.
